The PortaPaw™ Lower Litter Compartment is where thoughtful engineering meets real-world travel hygiene. Designed to function as a fully self-contained litter zone, it eliminates the single biggest challenge of traveling with a cat — waste management — without adding bulk, complexity, or compromise to the overall system.

Layered Hygiene System

The lower compartment houses a three-layer hygiene system working together seamlessly:

The Magnetic Lid sits 1 inch below the upper rim, sealing the litter zone from the resting area above and containing odors at the source.

The Mesh Filter Tray sits at the base, separating solid waste from litter and allowing easy removal without contact.

The Litter Zone between them provides ample space for standard clumping or crystal litter — enough for multi-day travel without requiring a change mid-journey.

Rolling Mobility

The lower compartment is the structural base of the entire PortaPaw™ system — housing the four 360° swivel wheels with individual brake locks and the telescopic handle mount. This means the mobility of the entire carrier is anchored in the most stable, lowest-weight-center component — exactly where it should be for balance and control.

Bumper Protection

Four corner bumper panels protect the lower compartment from impact damage during transit — in overhead compartments, car trunks, or checked baggage handling. The bumpers also elevate the base slightly, preventing direct floor contact and protecting the wheel mechanism on rough surfaces.

Easy Access

A front-facing access panel on the lower compartment allows quick entry to the litter zone without fully separating the two compartments — ideal for quick checks or adjustments during a journey without disturbing your pet above.

Waterproof Interior

The entire interior surface of the lower compartment is waterproof and fully washable. Smooth, seamless walls leave no crevices for litter or odor to accumulate. A full rinse under running water is all that's needed between uses.

Spring-Loaded Connection

Two receiving slots on the left and right sides of the lower compartment engage with the spring-loaded clip hooks on the upper carrier — forming a stable, rattle-free connection that holds both compartments together securely during transport. Separation requires simultaneous pressure on both clips, preventing accidental disconnection.
